Director Qualifications and Training

This subcategory focuses on the director’s education, qualifications, and ongoing professional development. Directors are expected to maintain an annual training plan, complete required training hours in areas such as program administration, management, and supervision, participate in instructor-led training, and meet education and credential requirements documented through transcripts, diplomas, certificates, or other approved records.

  • School-Age Operation or Program Director Training Plan (S-DQT-03): Directors have an individualized plan in the director’s file that provides for a minimum of 24 clock hours of training on an annual basis, to include a minimum of six hours in program administration, management, and supervision. The training topics must be related to the director’s duties and responsibilities encompassing the ages served by the early learning program.
  • Center Director Training Plan (S-DQT-04): Directors have an individualized plan in the director’s file that provides for a minimum of 36 clock hours of training on an annual basis, to include a minimum of six hours in program administration, management, and supervision.
  • School-Age Operation or Program Director Training Hours (S-DQT-05): Director has obtained, at minimum, 24 clock hours of training (with a minimum of 6 hours in program administration, management, and supervision) within the previous or current training year. Of the 24 hours, a minimum of 10 hours must be instructor- led training.
  • Center Director Training Hours (S-DQT-06): Director has obtained, at minimum, 36 clock hours of training (with a minimum of 6 hours in program administration, management, and supervision) within the previous or current training year. Of the 36 hours, a minimum of 15 hours must be instructor-led training.
  • Center Director Education (P-DEQT-01): This measure applies to center-based programs only. This measure captures a center-based director’s level of formal education. Educational documentation (transcripts, diplomas, certificates) or a director’s certificate with the CCR licensing minimum standard must be provided to show how the director qualifies.
  • Home Director Education (P-DEQT-02): This measure applies to Licensed Child Care Home (LCCH) and Registered Child Care Home (RCCH) programs only. This measure captures a director’s level of formal education. Educational documentation (transcripts, diplomas, certificates) or a director’s certificate with the CCR licensing minimum standard must be provided to show how the director qualifies.
  • School-Age Operation or Program Director Education (P-DEQT-03): This measure applies to school-age programs only. This measure captures a director’s level of formal education. Educational documentation (transcripts, diplomas, certificates) or a director’s certificate with the CCR licensing minimum standard must be provided to show how the director qualifies.
  • Center and Home Director Experience (P-DEQT-04): This measure captures years of director experience and applies to all facilities except school-age-only programs. Documentation of experience (résumé, curriculum vitae, date of hire) must be observed.
  • School-Age Operation or Program Director Experience (P-DEQT-05): This measure captures years of director experience and applies to school-age-only programs. Documentation of experience (résumé, curriculum vitae, date of hire) must be observed.
